Foundation In Christ

Our Foundation

The foundation that unites all Christian clubs is the commitment to Christ Jesus and the authority of the divinely inspired scriptures that testify to his life and work in the world as Lord of the universe.

Our life and our salvation come from the Gospel. The good news is that Jesus is the Christ, the saviour of our souls, today, tomorrow and forevermore. YC is devoted to promoting the one true Gospel, and all aspects of our new life in Christ should naturally be reconciled to the truth through the Spirit of truth.

No organization can join YorkChristian without agreeing to the core YC doctrinal foundations

“5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.” John 4:5-6

Our Mission Verses

“12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body… all made to drink of one Spirit” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 (NASB)

I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another.” — John 13:34-35 (NASB)

“I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.” — 1 Corinthians 1:10 (ESV)

For no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ”— 1Corinthians 3:11 (NASB)

Verses that we live by

I Thessalonians 5:16-22

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

Romans 3:23-25

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

(NIV)

Romans 3:28 For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Isaiah 53:3 But He was pierced for our offenses,

He was crushed for our wrongdoings;

The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him,

And by His wounds we are healed.

(NASB)

Romans 12:1-2

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

(NIV)
